Application for the study course Communication Design and Media

To apply for the study programme Interior Design it is mandatory to successfully pass the artistic aptitude test. You have to: hand in your portfolio, finish one homework assignment as well as take the entrance exam followed with a personal interview with the admissions board.

Artistic Aptitude Test 2024

  • Artist Apitude Test will take place on 3rd and 4th June 2024 in presence.


Your portfolio should show your interests and capabilities. It should contain about 20 artistic pieces of your own. This could be: freehand drawings, nature studies, sketchbooks and photography. Threedimensional work can be added as a photography. Your portfolio shouldn’t should not exceed DIN A1.

Homework assignment

This assignment allows you to really focus on one subject. It’s about having ideas and showing your personal imagination. Possible media and formats are: work on paper (should not exceed DIN A1), photography (as prints), CD-ROMs for Apple or PC, DVDs (max. 15 minutes), links to websites. The assignment will be released right here at the beginning of each year.



After the evaluation of your portfolio and homework assignment by the admissions board, the successful applicants will be invited to the aptitude test.


Artistic Aptitude Test

The artistic aptitude test will take place at the University of Applied Sciences, during which the participants will have to solve artistic, conceptual and theoretical assignments. Additionally, each applicant will be personally interviewed and will have the possibility to talk about their work, interests and intended career.

Online Registration (only for German students)

Registration via Studienportal of the University of Wismar (only for German students) starting the 1st of January.

Fill out your request for participation for the artistic aptitude test with your login name via Studienportal of University of Wismar. Print out the pdf “Antrag auf Zulassung”. This is your “Antrag auf Teilnahme an der künstlerischen Eignungsprüfung”.

Please send your portfolio, the finished homework assignment and your other documents (CV, certificates etc.) until the 30th of April to:

Application for admission

After passing the artistic aptitude test you will have to apply for admission. German students have to apply for a study place via Studienportal of University of Wismar. International students have to send their application directly to International Office.

After successful online application to study please print out the application for admission and send it together with the other application documents (current CV, a letter of motivation, portfolio, performance overview) to:

Fairs and Exhibitions: Visit us at student fairs and at the Hochschulinfotag “Campus Ahoi!” in May or at our yearly exhibition “DIA” the start of July.
