Workshop: social identity and dance
Background and expertise
Lorenzo Pignataro (he/they) comes from a non-academic, autodidactic background and is the child of so-called guest workers. His work moves at the intersection of performative art through dance and sociocultural practice. As a cultural practitioner behind projects such as the Fluid Identity 2.0 Festival, Start2Dance e.V., and the Community Days at Staatsoper Hannover, Lorenzo positions himself as a bridge-builder between so-called high and subculture. In collaboration with institutions, he creates processes of openness and participatory formats – such as the Fluid Identity 2.0 Festival, which opens spaces for diverse identities and collective expression. At the Reflektor Festival of Communication, he shares insights into his artistic practice as a tool for social negotiation.
"Movement and dance have always been political – everything else is just decoration."
