(Augsburg/ Wismar) Three selected designs, those of Cora Schmidt, Emma Hille and Florentine Gühlke, were submitted to the university competition "Dachwelten" (Roof Worlds) by the Faculty of Architecture and Design at Hochschule Wismar, University of Applied Sciences, and won second place. The winning designs submitted from Wismar are dedicated to funeral culture. Under the title "Lebens(abschieds)raum" ("Life (Farewell) Space"), students from the Bachelor's degree course in Interior Design under Prof. Bettina Menzel had worked on this in the summer semester of 2022. "The jury welcomes the new approach," says the laudatory speech, which can be viewed online as a video on the organiser's website.

In September 2022, the expert jury of the "Dachwelten" university competition, announced by the Deutsches Dach-Zentrum e.V., met in Augsburg and selected three recognitions (1000 euros each), second place (3000 euros) and first place (4000 euros) from a total of 17 entries. The theme of the competition was "Creating Living Space" with a special focus on roof forms and landscapes. The advertised double task was titled "Fuggerei next 500 from 1521 to future" and picks up on the idea of the Fuggerei, one of the oldest existing social housing estates in the world in Augsburg. The competition has been held annually in the summer semester since 2007. The participating teachers write out a design matching the competition theme, which is then submitted as a competition entry.
