The inner Space
“Anybody dealing with the subject of architecture must know that good architecture does not simply arise from a perfect plan and a well-proportioned, balanced exterior. The inner space, i.e. the space which cannot be fully grasped in any form, but which can only be sensed und understood by means of direct experience, is the actual quintessence of architecture. The visual conception of space, the ability to grasp and absorb it completely, is the key to understanding architecture.”
