Our warmest congratulations!
Since the winter semester 2023/24, she has been teaching as a substitute professor in the Interior Architecture programme at the Faculty of Architecture and Design at Hochschule Wismar, University of Applied Sciences, and also offers teaching in the Architecture programme. "Making art is not an elitist domain, but a constant process and a sensual form of questioning reality in all its facets. And I want to sensitise and encourage my students to do this," says Ilka Raupach.
In her work, Professor Raupach focuses on various cultural and natural spaces in order to recognise and visualise structures of coexistence. She is particularly interested in countries covered in ice and snow, as well as the Brazilian rainforest. After training as an ivory carver, the artist Ilka Raupach worked as a master craftswoman in Michelstadt, Hesse, and in Uummannaq and Ilulissat (Greenland). She completed her studies at Burg Giebichenstein University of Art and Design Halle (Saale) in the sculpture programme with a focus on "Sculpture/Materiality and Space" and at the Academy of Fine Arts in Bergen (Norway). From 2009, she worked as an artistic and research assistant at the Institute for Architecture-Related Art at the Technical University of Braunschweig for around ten years.
The internationally active artist has participated in numerous exhibitions, residencies and publications to date. In 2014, for example, she took part in The Arctic Circle, Art and Science Expedition, Svalbard (Norwegian archipelago) and in 2015 in Artist in Residence, Acaia Institute, São Paulo (Brazil) and in 2022 Labverde Residence, Amazonas (Brazil). She has received several awards. Most recently, Ilka Raupach received the ILB Art Prize from the Investment Bank of the State of Brandenburg at the end of 2023.
