On 5 May 2026, three awards for outstanding teaching were presented as part of the 12th Teaching Day at Wismar University of Applied Sciences. Prof. Dr.-Ing. Jens Kraitl was honoured on behalf of the Faculty of Engineering; Prof. Dr. rer. pol. Ali Axel Arnaout received the prize for the Faculty of Economics; and Prof. Dr. phil. Maxi Berger was honoured on behalf of the Faculty of Design, receiving the award for the second year running.
The award-winning lecturers impressed the jury in particular with their commitment, their practical approach and their individual support for students. The students highlighted above all the clear communication of complex content, motivating learning environments and personal support.
In addition to the three main prizes, six special teaching awards were also presented. A particular first was the award given to a student who had taken over teaching duties as a substitute. The award ceremony was opened for the first time by the student Vice-Chancellor and featured laudatory speeches from the faculties.
