Carolin Peters impressed with her master's thesis on the sustainable use of heat from surface waters, which can enable significant savings in fossil fuels. Lisa Brune received the award for her thesis, which creatively explores the East-West issue in Germany through interviews and the cooperative game "Dämmerland" and promotes dialogue between East and West.
Both theses are highly relevant to society and contribute to progress in their respective fields.

The award ceremony took place as part of the opening event of the Schwerin Science Week (Schweriner Wisenschaftswoche) at the Schwerin Chamber of Industry and Commerce. This year, the theme of the week is "Freedom", as is the theme of the Year of Science (an initiative of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research). In addition to our two graduates, Franziska Bannwart, Medical School Hamburg (MSH), and Nicolai Bauchrowitz, Hochschule der Bundesagentur für Arbeit (HdBA), each received one of the four Schwerin Innovation Awards. These are awarded by the “Förderer von Hochschulen in Schwerin e. V” and donated by “Stadtwerke Schwerin GmbH”. Following the award ceremony, Prof Dr Marius Lindauer, Institute for AI at the University of Hanover, gave the opening lecture: "AI: Paving the way or risking freedom?"
