(Wismar/Venice) Around 40 students from the architecture, communication design and media courses at the Faculty of Architecture and Design at Hochschule Wismar, University of Applied Sciences, will travel to the Italian lagoon city during the project week from 3rd to 7th November 2025, accompanied by professors Matthias Ludwig and Hennig Schellhorn and professor representative Philipp Loeper.

Thanks to their participation in the special project „Biennale Sessions” organised by the Fondazione La Biennale di Venezia, the students will enjoy special benefits during their stay, such as discounts and the opportunity to use a seminar room. The Wismar students want to use their excursion to engage with the current themes of the Architecture Biennale on the one hand and to develop these visually on the other. But „La dolce Vita” and a visit to our partner university, Università IUAV di Venezia, are also planned.

Since the beginning of May 2025, the 19th International Architecture Exhibition in Venice (Italy), entitled „Intelligens. Natural. Artificial. Collective.’, curated by Carlo Ratti and organised by La Biennale di Venezia, has been open to the public in the Giardini, the Arsenale and Forte Marghera. The doors will remain open until the end of November 2025. The German contribution, entitled „Stresstest”‚(Stress Test) and curated by Nicola Borgmann, Elisabeth Endres, Gabriele G. Kiefer and Daniele Santucci, shows, for example, the dramatic effects of global warming on urban life.

During the project week, the Faculty of Architecture and Design at Hochschule Wismar, University of Applied Sciences, will offer excursions and interdisciplinary workshops on site, as well as inviting external experts to speak on design topics. It's a great time for students to discover new things and try out new ideas.
