With active wheelchair to success

Both pictures: The diploma thesis, an active wheelchair, by graduate Felix Lange from the design course. Design by Felix Lange, Faculty of Architecture ans Design at Hochschule Wismar, University of Applied Sciences, 2012.

Felix Lange defended his thesis "Parafree - E-Mobility "E wie Ergo"" more than ten years ago in the design course at the Faculty of Architecture ans Design at Hochschule Wismar, University of Applied Sciences. "Parafree" was written as a brand name in capital letters, then as now. The thesis was supervised by Prof. Volker Zölch. Felix Lange developed a new interpretation of a manual active wheelchair. Active because it uses a proprioceptive-training undercarriage construction to increase the range of motion of a paraplegic and at the same time requires the user to perform stabilising muscle exercises to stimulate the deep muscles.

The graduate founded the "Langefreunde Design Studio" in Schwerin, also more than 10 years ago. The past diploma thesis from the product design course has since been steadily developed with a focus on improvements in the field of mobility care for paraplegics. Recently, the "Langefreunde Design Studio" was awarded the "if Design Award 2023" in the category "Product, 1.22 Medicine / Health" for their current product "Parafree Wheelchair".

Congratulations!
