At the end of the summer semester 2022, the Faculty of Architecture ans Design at Hochschule Wismar, University of Applied Sciences, has retired Prof. Dr Thomas Römhild with the appointment "Design, Building Climate and Lighting Planning".
Prof. Dr. Thomas Römhild had been teaching at Hochschule Wismar, University of Applied Sciences, since 1995. He started in the then Department of Architecture. As a result of the higher education reform signed in Bologna (Italy) in 1999 by the Federal Republic of Germany and 28 other European countries, the architecture course at Wismar University of Applied Sciences was restructured in 2001 into the two-tier Bachelor's and Master's degree system. From today's point of view - after more than 20 years - Römhild sees the project-oriented studies with ever new tasks and the cooperation with students from all over the world as a special feature. The Master's programme in Architectural Lighting Design at at Hochschule Wismar, University of Applied Sciences, has graduated more than 600 students to date.
Since 2012, Römhild has also supervised the part-time, English-language Master's distance learning course Lighting Design - Architectural Lighting and Design Management (more information ») together with his colleague Prof. Dr. Marcus Hackel from the Architecture course at Hochschule Wismar, University of Applied Sciences' subsidiary, WINGS (Wismar International Graduation Services GmbH). Here he will continue to be active in teaching. Römhild will also continue his office as chairman of LiTG (Lichttechnische Gesellschaft e.V.) beyond his retirement, so that he will continue to be actively involved as one of today's world-renowned protagonists in the lighting industry.
