The permanent exhibition ‘Müther – Pioneering East German Modernism’ was curated by Prof. Mathias Ludwig, Head of our Müther Archive, and Dr Dina Falbe, both from the Faculty of Architecture and Design, in collaboration with Fatima Thiam, Lina Herschel and Studio Bernard-Boos. Almost 80 per cent of the exhibits were provided by our Müther Archive – in the form of high-quality copies. These include, for example, 44 historical building files relating to Müther’s projects.
The original exhibits remain on the Wismar campus.

Visitors to the exhibition can delve deep into the world of the Rügen-born architect during a tour comprising seven stations:

Vita Müther: The man behind the shells.
Retrospective: An overview of his impressive body of work.
Construction Technology: How concrete was transformed into delicate works of art.
Eastern Modernism: Müther’s role in the architectural history of the GDR.
Existing Buildings & Demolition: A critical look at the preservation of his works.
The World of Shell Structures: The global dimension of his vision.
Dialogue & Outlook: A space for discussions on the architecture of tomorrow.

The municipality of Binz also offers bus tours of the original 18 Müther buildings – four of which have been demolished and one of which was never built – on the island of Rügen.
