Prof. Tom Hanke is no stranger to our Wismar campus. Since the summer semester of 2021, he has taught first as an adjunct professor and most recently as a substitute professor, so that he will be able to continue his teaching seamlessly from 1st March 2022 - now as a professor.

Born in Halle, he graduated in design from the Bauhaus University in Weimar and the National Academy of the Arts in Oslo. He then founded the agency pluslab in 2010 and develops interactive objects, spaces and digital applications for cultural and research institutions. His field of work and research combines product design, mechatronics, media design and scenography. Between 2011 and 2017, Tom Hanke also taught as an artistic assistant in the "Multimedia |VR Design" degree programme at Burg Giebichenstein Kunsthochschule Halle.

He would like to contribute his experience to teaching and research at the Faculty of Architecture and Design. Professor Hanke will focus on the interface between physical and digital design fields and supplement teaching with digital basics, interaction technologies and physical computing.
