“It's probably about dragons,” scholarship holder Lasse Johannes Köhler reveals his plans before the exhibition – Lasse has completed his Diploma in Design here in Wismar and is currently studying for a Master's Degree in Material Culture Design at the Faculty of Architecture and Design at Hochschule Wismar, University of Applied Sciences. This year he won the “Young Artists in Residence” scholarship at the Neues Künstlerhaus Ahrenshoop. Lasse started his one-month scholarship at the beginning of March 2025. He will be showing his work in the exhibition “Young Art from Northern Europe” from 21th March 2025 alongside other young art positions. What he will show is still a surprise.
In his Diploma thesis, Lasse examined the material dust from an aesthetic and artistic perspective under the title “I see something you don't see”. He has already presented this at our annual exhibition DIA, the fangfrisch - Fair for Applied Arts in Wismar and the Zeughausmesse für Angewandte Kunst - Arts & Crafts Days in Berlin as part of his studies. Privately, he has already presented his work at various exhibitions and fairs as part of the artist collective “Inserat_8000”.
“I find my creative home above all in ceramics,” says Köhler, ”Since my youth I have drawn great inspiration from music and philosophy. These two passions are my driving force.”
