New workshop manager for time-based media

Thomas Gehnich, Dipl.-Ing. (FH) has been working at the Faculty of Architecture and Design at Hochschule Wismar, University of Applied Sciences as workshop manager of the Multimedia laboratory since 1st January 2022, with a focus on the communication design and media course. In a half position he is dedicated to the expansion of the Multimedia laboratory in house 7b, room 2.218, in collaboration with Prof. Britta Wauer, professor for time-based media. He takes care of the recording technology for moving images and sound and supports the animation department (stop motion). Thomas Gehnich will be on site mainly on Mondays and Fridays.

Gehnich has also worked for many years at the Filmbüro MV in Wismar on Bürgermeister-Haupt-Strasse, where he continues to supervise educational projects as technical director of the media workshop. More to the Filmbüro MV also under www.filmbuero-mv.de.

Thomas Gehnich has been very well connected in the film industry of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern for many years. Born in Schwerin, he worked for 15 years in the technical cinema sector and switched to the producing side of the film business in 1991. He built up the video workshop of the MV Film e.V. in Schwerin, which, for example, realized leisure activities for young people such as the Schwerin School Television, the annual festival television for the FilmKunstFest Schwerin and other film and educational projects. Since 2001 the MV Film e.V. with the Filmbüro MV as its office is located in Wismar in the Bürgermeister-Haupt-Straße 51. There, Gehnich is in charge of the technology of the Medienwerkstatt Wismar, the event house with cinema, event and conference technology and the projects of the Medienwerkstatt.

Originally, Thomas Gehnich studied film and television technology at the University of Film and Television "Konrad Wolf" in Potsdam-Babelsberg. Welcome!
