Application for the study course Communication Design and Media

To apply for the study programme Interior Design it is mandatory to successfully pass the artistic aptitude test. You have to: hand in your portfolio, finish one homework assignment as well as take the entrance exam followed with a personal interview with the admissions board.

Artistic Aptitude Test 2025

  • Register for the artistic aptitude test from 1st January to 30th April 2025

  • Portfolio submission, in person, by post or digitally

    • By post: Send your portfolio by post to Hochschule Wismar, University of Applied Sciences, Technology, Business and Design, Faculty of Architecture and Design, Student Affairs, Philipp-Müller-Straße 14, 23966 Wismar
    • By upload to the web space of our university cloud: The upload link will be sent to you by e-mail after successful online registration.
  • The artistic aptitude test will take place on 2nd and 3rd June 2025 in presence.
 

Portfolio

Your portfolio should show your interests and capabilities. It should contain about 20 artistic pieces of your own. This could be: freehand drawings, nature studies, sketchbooks and photography. Threedimensional work can be added as a photography. Your portfolio shouldn’t should not exceed DIN A1.

Homework assignment

This assignment allows you to really focus on one subject. It’s about having ideas and showing your personal imagination. Possible media and formats are: work on paper (should not exceed DIN A1), photography (as prints), CD-ROMs for Apple or PC, DVDs (max. 15 minutes), links to websites. The assignment will be released right here at the beginning of each year.

 

Evaluation

After the evaluation of your portfolio and homework assignment by the admissions board, the successful applicants will be invited to the aptitude test.

 

Artistic Aptitude Test

The artistic aptitude test will take place at the University of Applied Sciences, during which the participants will have to solve artistic, conceptual and theoretical assignments. Additionally, each applicant will be personally interviewed and will have the possibility to talk about their work, interests and intended career. Further documents you could find here, German Version »


REGISTRATION for the online application via Studienportal of the University of Wismar (only for German students). After your online registration, you will receive an e-mail to the contact you provided with your access data for the application.

Application deadlines
You can apply for the artistic aptitude test from 1st January to 30th April each year. An application for a study place is possible from 1st May to 15th July of each year.

Application deadlines
You can apply for the artistic aptitude test from 1st January to 30th April each year. An application for a study place is possible from 1st May to 15th July of each year.

All digitally by uploading the data. You will be guided through the application process online. You can easily upload all application documents such as CV, letter of motivation or portfolio. The submitted data will reach our Department of Student and Academic Affairs in this way. (For German students)
