Model Construction in large and small
Model making plays a central role at our faculty, because only the transformation of the design/idea into a model enables the further development of the individual forms in relation to each other, their proportions and functionality.
Several workshops are available to our students for this purpose:
Assembly and model building workshop: A wide variety of landscape and (interior) space models are created here, working with different, sometimes unconventional materials. Carpentry and furniture making: The large number of different machines also enable the processing of larger parts, up to a scale of 1:1. CNC workshop: The workshop is used for the production of initial models, right up to functional prototypes. Model-making workshop (focus on product design), incl. laser cutter: A wide variety of models and prototypes can be created in the machine and work rooms; a spray/paint booth is also part of the equipment. 3D printing and cutting plotter: 3D printing technology makes it possible to implement even more complex shapes in model making. The cutting plotter cuts all types of paper, cardboard and foil precisely and in the desired shape.
The model-making workshops are open to all students - after they have been instructed - and are sometimes also used across faculties. The workshop leaders offer assistance in working on the projects.
